August 2026 - The Split System Water Heater That Changes the Game
Jeff Flaherty brings in Carl Uthe, vice president of Ecological, to talk through the company's Omni split system heat pump water heater, a product Wise Home Energy just completed its first install on. Carl explains why the traditional integrated heat pump water heater creates problems in smaller spaces, why running refrigerant through the wall is safer than running water, and how the Omni achieves a uniform energy factor of 4.23 when Energy Star only requires 2.2. Jeff covers where it fits best: mobile homes, slab homes where the mechanical is off the kitchen, and multifamily projects where noise and space are both constraints.
